Ingredients
Scale
Sauce and Aromatics
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 green onions, sliced (whites and greens separated)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili crisp or chili oil (optional)
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
Main
- 18–20 frozen dumplings (any variety, pork, chicken, or veggie works)
For Garnish
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Chopped green onion tops
- Fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the dumplings.
- Sauté aromatics: Heat the sesame and vegetable oils in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the white parts of the green onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger, sautéing for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and aromatic.
- Make the sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and optional chili crisp or chili oil. Pour in the low-sodium broth and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer on the stovetop.
- Arrange dumplings: Place the frozen dumplings in a single layer directly into the skillet with the simmering sauce. Spoon some sauce over the dumplings to coat them evenly.
- Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes. The dumplings should cook through, develop a light golden brown color on top, and the sauce will bubble and thicken slightly.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from the oven and sprinkle sesame seeds, chopped green onion tops, and cilantro over the dish. Serve the dumplings hot right from the pan for a comforting meal.
Notes
- Use any frozen dumplings you prefer—pork, chicken, or vegetable varieties all work well.
- If your skillet isn’t oven-safe, transfer the dumplings and sauce to a baking dish before placing in the oven.
- Add extra vegetables like sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, or shredded cabbage to increase nutrition and volume.
