Description

Strawberry Sago is a refreshing and creamy dessert featuring chewy tapioca pearls soaked in a luscious mixture of coconut milk, milk, and strawberry flavors, combined with fresh strawberries and coconut jellies for a delightful tropical treat perfect for warm days.

Ingredients

Scale

Tapioca Pearls

  • ½ cup small tapioca pearls

Fruit and Dairy

  • 3 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup coconut milk (any type)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk

Flavorings and Other

  • 1 tablespoon strawberry jam
  • 1 jar coconut jellies (nata de coco)

Instructions

  1. Cook Tapioca Pearls: Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls and reduce to a gentle boil. Cook for 25-30 minutes until the pearls become fully translucent; if they still show a white center, continue cooking a few more minutes, adding more water if necessary.
  2. Rinse and Drain: Rinse the cooked tapioca pearls under cold water to stop the cooking process, then drain thoroughly and transfer them to a large bowl.
  3. Blend Strawberry Mixture: In a blender, combine half of the chopped strawberries, coconut milk, regular milk, and strawberry jam. Blend until smooth, then pour this mixture into the bowl with the tapioca pearls.
  4. Combine and Serve: Stir in the remaining chopped strawberries, sweetened condensed milk, and coconut jellies. You can enjoy the dessert immediately or chill it in the refrigerator for an hour before serving for a cooler, more refreshing experience.

Notes

  • For best texture, ensure tapioca pearls are fully translucent with no white center before rinsing.
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of strawberry jam and sweetened condensed milk.
  • Chilling the dessert enhances the flavors and provides a refreshing treat.
  • Nata de coco (coconut jellies) adds a chewy texture but can be substituted with other jelly or fruit pieces if desired.
