Ingredients
Scale
Burger Patties
- 680 g ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese
Sautéed Jalapeños
- 2 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp butter
Chipotle Mayo
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp adobo sauce (from chipotle peppers in adobo)
- 1 chipotle pepper, finely minced
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Pinch of salt
Additional Toppings & Buns
- 1 cup arugula or shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 brioche or sesame burger buns, toasted
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
Instructions
- Prepare Chipotle Mayo: In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, adobo sauce, finely minced chipotle pepper, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly until smooth and refrigerate until ready to use, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Sauté Jalapeños: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the thinly sliced jalapeños and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until they soften slightly and release their flavor. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Form Patties and Season: Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape each into a burger patty. Season both sides evenly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Cook Patties: Preheat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each patty and cover to help the cheese melt perfectly.
- Toast Buns: Spread butter on the cut sides of the burger buns. Toast them in a pan or on the grill until they are golden brown and slightly crisp.
- Assemble Burgers: Spread the chipotle mayo on both halves of each toasted bun. On the bottom bun, layer arugula or shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and the cooked burger patty topped with melted cheese. Add the sautéed jalapeños and thinly sliced red onion on top, then finish with the top bun. Serve the burgers hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the number of jalapeños or the amount of chipotle pepper in the mayo to control the spiciness level.
- For medium doneness, cook patties for about 3-4 minutes per side; adjust time if you prefer rare or well-done.
- Use freshly ground black pepper for best flavor seasoning.
- Brioche buns add sweetness and richness; sesame buns give a classic texture and taste—choose according to preference.
- Leftover chipotle mayo can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
