Ingredients
Scale
Juices
- 6 cups (1.4 L) cranberry juice, chilled
- 4 cups (940 ml) pineapple juice, chilled
- 2 cups (470 ml) orange juice, chilled
- 1 cup (235 ml) white grape juice, chilled
Sodas
- 2 liters (8.5 cups) ginger ale, chilled
- 1 liter (4.2 cups) lemon-lime soda, chilled
Sherbet & Garnishes
- 1.5 quarts (1.4 L) lime or rainbow sherbet, softened
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 2-3 limes, thinly sliced and quartered
- 1 orange, thinly sliced and quartered
- Several sprigs fresh rosemary
- Optional: 1/4 cup granulated or sparkling sugar (for glass rims)
- Abundant ice cubes or festive ice molds
Instructions
- Prepare Workspace & Ingredients: Gather a large punch bowl (at least 5 quarts), pitcher(s), ladle, and serving glasses. Thoroughly chill all liquid ingredients, including juices and sodas, for several hours or overnight to ensure the punch stays cold. Thinly slice and quarter the limes and orange. Rinse the cranberries and rosemary sprigs. Optionally, prepare festive ice cubes or an ice ring to enhance presentation. Remove sherbet from the freezer 10-15 minutes before assembling to soften slightly. Optionally, rim serving glasses with sugar for a decorative touch.
- Craft the Punch Base: In a large pitcher or directly into the punch bowl, combine the chilled cranberry juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, and white grape juice. Stir gently but thoroughly to blend all flavors. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired by adding more juice if needed. If not serving immediately, cover the juice mixture and refrigerate to keep it cold.
- Assemble the Punch: Just before serving, add generous scoops of the softened lime or rainbow sherbet into the punch bowl. Slowly and carefully pour the chilled ginger ale and lemon-lime soda down the side of the bowl to preserve the carbonation and minimize fizz loss. Add plenty of ice cubes around and between the sherbet scoops to maintain chill. Arrange lime slices, orange quarters, cranberries, and rosemary sprigs artfully in the bowl for an inviting and festive garnish.
- Serve & Enjoy: Serve the punch immediately by ladling into sugar-rimmed glasses, making sure each glass receives some sherbet froth and decorative garnishes. Keep extra chilled sodas and ice on hand to top up the punch during the event and replenish sherbet as needed to maintain frothiness and flavor. For leftover punch, remove any ice and garnishes, transfer the punch to an airtight container, and refrigerate for 1-2 days. Note that carbonation and froth will diminish but the flavors will remain. Optionally, set up a garnish station to let guests personalize their drinks with additional citrus or rosemary.
Notes
- For best results, chill all juices and sodas thoroughly overnight before assembling the punch.
- Softening sherbet before adding ensures smooth scooping and better integration into the punch.
- Rimming glasses with sugar adds a festive sparkle and subtle sweetness.
- Garnishes like fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs not only decorate but lend subtle aroma and texture.
- Serve promptly to enjoy the punch’s refreshing fizz and sherbet froth before carbonation dissipates.
- Leftover punch will remain tasty but lose its fizz and frothy texture within 1-2 days refrigerated.
- Customize the citrus garnish with other seasonal fruits like pomegranate arils or orange slices for added color.
