Description

Ingredients
Scale
Green Beans
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Blanch the Green Beans: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch them for 3–4 minutes until they are just tender and bright green. Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
- Heat Butter and Oil: In a large skillet, heat the unsalted butter and olive oil over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is hot.
- Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant but not browned.
- Add Green Beans: Toss the blanched green beans into the skillet, coating them thoroughly with the garlic butter mixture.
- Cook and Caramelize: Continue cooking the green beans in the skillet for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are heated through and slightly caramelized.
- Season: Season the green beans with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
- Finish and Serve: Remove from heat and optionally finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Serve warm as a delicious side dish.
