Description
These Sausage Pizza Biscuit Bites combine savory sausage, flavorful spaghetti sauce seasoning, and melted mozzarella cheese wrapped in flaky buttermilk biscuit dough. Bite-sized and perfect for parties or snacks, they bake to golden perfection in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits
- 4 (6-oz) cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (5-count each)
Sausage Mixture
- 1 (16-oz) package pork sausage
- 1 (1.37-oz) package spaghetti sauce seasoning mix
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (204ºC). Lightly spray mini muffin pans with cooking spray and set them aside to prepare for baking.
- Mix Sausage and Cheese: In a bowl, gently combine the uncooked pork sausage, spaghetti sauce seasoning mix, and shredded mozzarella cheese until well blended but not overworked. Then shape this mixture into 40 evenly sized balls.
- Prepare Biscuit Cups: Open the cans of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits and separate each biscuit into two layers, giving you 40 total biscuit layers. Press one biscuit layer firmly into each cup of the greased mini muffin pans to form little cups that will hold the sausage balls.
- Fill Biscuit Cups: Place one sausage and cheese ball into each biscuit cup, making sure they fit snugly.
- Bake: Bake the assembled bites in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the biscuit cups are golden brown and the sausage balls are bubbly and cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to separate the biscuit layers carefully to avoid tearing, so the cups hold the sausage well.
- Use a light hand when mixing sausage with cheese to keep the texture tender.
- Check sausages for doneness by ensuring the internal temperature reaches 160ºF (71ºC).
- These bites are great served warm with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best texture.
