Description

This creamy, flavorful Ranch Queso Dip combines spicy sausage, ground beef, classic taco seasoning, and ranch dressing mix with melted Velveeta and cream cheese for a rich and satisfying dip. Perfect for parties and game days, it can be prepared on the stovetop, microwave, or slow cooker to suit your convenience.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 lb hot sausage
  • 1 lb lean ground beef

Seasonings

  • 1 (1-oz) package taco seasoning
  • 1 (1-oz) package ranch dressing mix
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder

Dairy & Dairy Alternatives

  • 1 (16-oz) package Velveeta cheese
  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese
  • ½ cup milk (optional)

Others

  • 1 (16-oz) jar salsa

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat: In a large skillet, cook the hot sausage and lean ground beef over medium heat until both are thoroughly browned and crumbly, with no pink remaining. Drain excess fat to keep the dip from becoming greasy.
  2. Combine Ingredients (Stovetop Method): In the same large skillet or a Dutch oven, mix the cooked sausage and ground beef with the taco seasoning, ranch dressing mix, chili powder, salsa, Velveeta cheese, and cream cheese. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until all cheeses have fully melted and the mixture is smooth. If the dip becomes too thick, stir in milk a little at a time until you achieve desired consistency.
  3. Microwave Option: Place the cooked meats in a large microwave-safe bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and microwave on HIGH for 4 minutes. Stir well, then microwave an additional 4 minutes, stirring again. Continue microwaving in 1 to 2-minute increments until the cheese is completely melted and the dip is hot throughout. Stir in milk as needed to thin as desired. Serve immediately.
  4. Slow Cooker Alternative: Combine the cooked sausage and ground beef with all remaining ingredients in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cheese has melted and mixture is heated evenly. Add milk if the dip thickens too much. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Drain excess fat from cooked meats to avoid greasy dip.
  • Adjust chili powder and taco seasoning to taste for spiciness.
  • Milk is optional and can be added to thin the dip if it becomes too thick.
  • For best flavor, prepare dip fresh or keep warm on low setting until serving.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping.
