Ingredients
Scale
Donuts
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Maple Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pumpkin pie spice to ensure even distribution of leavening and spices.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the donuts tender.
- Fill Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan cavities, filling each about 3/4 full to allow room for rising.
- Bake the Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donut comes out clean.
- Cool Donuts: Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
- Prepare Maple Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, pure maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable.
- Glaze Donuts: Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the maple glaze and place them back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
Notes
- For an extra touch, sprinkle chopped pecans or cinnamon sugar on top of the glaze before it sets.
- These donuts are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
