Description

These Pumpkin Donuts with Maple Glaze are a delightful fall treat, combining moist, spiced pumpkin-flavored donuts baked to perfection and topped with a sweet, glossy maple glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, they capture the essence of autumn with pumpkin pie spice and a hint of maple syrup.

Ingredients

Scale

Donuts

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Maple Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pumpkin pie spice to ensure even distribution of leavening and spices.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the donuts tender.
  5. Fill Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan cavities, filling each about 3/4 full to allow room for rising.
  6. Bake the Donuts: Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donut comes out clean.
  7. Cool Donuts: Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
  8. Prepare Maple Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, pure maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable.
  9. Glaze Donuts: Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the maple glaze and place them back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, sprinkle chopped pecans or cinnamon sugar on top of the glaze before it sets.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
