Description

The Pomegranate Spice Martini is a festive and flavorful cocktail perfect for any celebration. Combining the warm spiced notes of chai-infused syrup with vibrant pomegranate juice, smooth vodka, and orange liqueur, this drink balances sweetness and spice elegantly. Finished with refreshing ginger beer and garnished with pomegranate arils, star anise, and sugared rosemary, it’s a delightful holiday or party beverage that can also be easily adapted into a flavorful mocktail.

Ingredients

Scale

Chai Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 bag chai tea
  • Cinnamon sticks and star anise (optional, for steeping)

Martini Mix

  • 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 1 cup Cointreau (orange liqueur)

To Serve

  • 2 bottles ginger beer
  • Pomegranate arils (for garnish)
  • Star anise (for garnish)
  • Sugared rosemary (for garnish)

Mocktail Variation

  • 2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 to 1 cup water
  • Chai syrup (prepared as above)
  • Ginger beer (to top)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chai syrup: In a small to medium pot, bring 1 cup water and 1/3 cup honey to a boil. Remove the pot from heat and add the chai tea bag along with optional cinnamon sticks and star anise if using. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bag and any spices, then let the syrup cool completely. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  2. Mix the cocktail: In a large pitcher, combine 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice, 2 cups vodka, 1 cup Cointreau (orange liqueur), and the prepared chai syrup. Stir well and chill the mixture until ready to serve.
  3. Serve the cocktail: Just before serving, add ice to your punch bowl or pitcher. Pour the chilled cocktail mixture over the ice, then top with 2 bottles of chilled ginger beer. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Garnish and enjoy: Pour the cocktail into individual glasses and garnish each with pomegranate arils, a star anise, and a sprig of sugared rosemary for a festive presentation.
  5. Make the mocktail (optional): In a large pitcher, mix 2 cups pomegranate juice with 1 cup orange juice, 1/2 to 1 cup water, and chai syrup. Chill until ready to serve. Before serving, add ice to your punch bowl or pitcher, pour the ginger beer over the mixture, and stir gently.

Notes

  • The chai syrup can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, making party prep easier.
  • Ginger beer adds a spicy fizz that perfectly complements the cocktail’s warm, spicy flavors. Choose a high-quality ginger beer for best results.
  • For a non-alcoholic option, use the mocktail recipe variation provided.
  • Garnishing with sugared rosemary and star anise not only enhances the look but also adds aromatic notes.
