Description

This Parmesan Garlic Cheeseburger Lasagna is a deliciously hearty twist on classic lasagna, combining the savory flavors of ground beef, garlic, and three cheeses baked to golden perfection. Creamy ricotta, rich mozzarella, and sharp Parmesan meld with a velvety Parmesan garlic sauce and tender noodles, creating a comforting meal perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Pasta

  • 12 oz lasagna noodles, cooked and drained

Cheeses

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna.
  2. Cook Beef and Onion: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion softened. Drain excess fat, then add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute to release its flavor.
  3. Make the Roux: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring frequently, to form a roux which will thicken the sauce.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: Slowly whisk in the milk to the roux, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency.
  5. Flavor the Sauce: Remove the sauce from heat and stir in Italian seasoning, half of the grated Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Season the Ricotta: In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper to enhance its flavor.
  7. Layer the Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of the Parmesan garlic sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Then layer with cooked lasagna noodles, half of the beef mixture, spoonfuls of the ricotta cheese, a layer of shredded mozzarella, and some sauce. Repeat the layering process, finishing with sauce and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake Covered: Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes to heat thoroughly and meld the flavors.
  9. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes until the lasagna is bubbly and golden on top.
  10. Rest and Garnish: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing to allow it to set. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Cooking the beef fully and draining fat helps reduce excess grease in the lasagna.
  • Using a roux-based sauce thickens the milk for a creamy, cohesive layering component.
  • Resting the lasagna prevents it from falling apart when sliced.
  • Fresh parsley adds a pop of color and fresh flavor but is optional.
  • For quicker prep, you can use no-boil lasagna noodles but adjust cooking time accordingly.
