Description

This One-Bowl Banana Bread from Scratch is a simple and delicious treat made with ripe bananas, melted butter, and a handful of basic pantry ingredients. Perfect for breakfast or a snack, it comes together quickly with minimal cleanup and offers a moist, flavorful loaf that’s perfect for slicing and sharing.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Bread Ingredients

  • 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mash Bananas: In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth, creating the base of the batter.
  3. Add Butter: Stir in the melted and slightly cooled butter until well combined with the mashed bananas.
  4. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the bowl; mix until the batter is smooth and uniform.
  5. Add Dry Ingredients: Sprinkle the baking soda and salt evenly over the mixture, stirring to incorporate them thoroughly.
  6. Incorporate Flour: Add the all-purpose flour and gently fold it into the wet mixture just until combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the bread tender.
  7. Transfer and Smooth Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula for even baking.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  9. Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing to ensure clean slices.

Notes

  • For added texture, you can mix in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or chocolate chips before baking.
  • To enhance the flavor, substitute half of the granulated sugar with brown sugar for a richer, caramel note.
