Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (or your favorite flavor)
- 1/4 cup ground flaxseed (for added fiber)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut (optional)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional, or dark chocolate chips)
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (or almond butter)
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (for sweetness)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the rolled oats, peanut butter, honey or maple syrup, protein powder, ground flaxseed, shredded coconut, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix everything thoroughly until fully combined to form a consistent mixture.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in the mini chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips, mixing until they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Form Bites: Using your hands or a spoon, scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll them into balls. If the mixture feels too sticky to handle, place it in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to firm up before shaping.
- Chill Bites: Arrange the formed protein bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet or a plate. Refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up and hold their shape.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once chilled, enjoy these protein-packed bites as a quick snack, or use them as pre-workout fuel or a post-workout treat for sustained energy.
Notes
- You can substitute almond butter for peanut butter for a different nut flavor.
- For a vegan version, use maple syrup instead of honey and ensure the protein powder is plant-based.
- Store the protein bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- These bites can be frozen for longer storage; thaw in the fridge before serving.
- If you prefer less sweetness, adjust the honey or maple syrup quantity to taste.
