Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
- 1–2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
Wet Ingredients
- ¼ cup almond butter or peanut butter
- ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk of choice (if needed for consistency)
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the rolled oats, protein powder, and chia seeds (if using) thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
- Add wet ingredients: Stir in the almond butter, honey, and peppermint extract until a dough-like consistency forms. Add any wet ingredients gradually to avoid over-moistening.
- Adjust consistency: If the mixture feels too dry or crumbly to hold together, add milk one tablespoon at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough binds.
- Fold in chocolate chips: Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips, evenly distributing them without breaking the dough.
- Form balls: Using your hands, scoop and roll the mixture into approximately 1-inch diameter balls, shaping them evenly.
- Chill: Place the formed balls on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to allow them to firm up.
Notes
- Store the protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze them for longer storage.
- For a vibrant green color and added antioxidants, mix a pinch of matcha or spirulina powder in with the dry ingredients.
