Description

Sweet and tender maple roasted carrots cooked to perfection in the oven with a buttery maple glaze, lightly seasoned for an irresistible side dish that complements any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Carrots

  • 2 lbs carrots, washed and scrubbed

Glaze

  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar

Seasoning

  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Glaze: Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter together with the maple syrup and light brown sugar, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Arrange Carrots and Add Seasoning: Place the washed and scrubbed carrots in a single layer on a baking sheet. Pour the maple syrup glaze evenly over the carrots. Sprinkle sea salt and black pepper over them, then toss gently to ensure all carrots are coated with the glaze and seasoning.
  3. Bake and Toss: Roast the carrots in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until they become tender. Every 10 to 15 minutes, remove the carrots and toss them gently to redistribute the glaze and promote even cooking. Once done, sprinkle additional salt if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm carrots for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet glaze.
  • Tossing the carrots occasionally while baking prevents burning and ensures even caramelization.
  • This recipe pairs wonderfully with roasted meats or as a healthy side for vegetarian dishes.
