  • Purple gel food coloring
  • Black gel food coloring
  • Purple sprinkles
  • ½ cup black or chocolate sprinkles


Instructions

  1. Mix the butter and sugar: Beat the unsalted butter and powdered sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, ensuring a smooth base for the dough.
  2. Add eggs and milk: Incorporate the eggs and milk into the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until the batter is smooth and homogenous.
  3. Combine dry ingredients and extracts: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract to form a cohesive dough.
  4. Divide and color the dough: Split the dough into portions; tint one half purple. Then divide the remainder into black and white dough portions, coloring accordingly with gel food coloring.
  5. Roll out black dough: Shape the black dough into a 6×12-inch rectangle on a flat surface.
  6. Layer with white dough: Roll the white dough to the same size and place it atop the black dough, pressing lightly to adhere the layers together.
  7. Roll out purple dough: Roll the purple dough to the same 6×12-inch size, sprinkle purple sprinkles evenly on top, and then roll it tightly into a log shape.
  8. Form and bake the cookies: Slice the dough logs into spiral-shaped cookies and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
