Scale
Cookie Dough
- 1½ cups unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- Purple gel food coloring
- Black gel food coloring
- Purple sprinkles
- ½ cup black or chocolate sprinkles
Instructions
- Mix the butter and sugar: Beat the unsalted butter and powdered sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, ensuring a smooth base for the dough.
- Add eggs and milk: Incorporate the eggs and milk into the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until the batter is smooth and homogenous.
- Combine dry ingredients and extracts: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract to form a cohesive dough.
- Divide and color the dough: Split the dough into portions; tint one half purple. Then divide the remainder into black and white dough portions, coloring accordingly with gel food coloring.
- Roll out black dough: Shape the black dough into a 6×12-inch rectangle on a flat surface.
- Layer with white dough: Roll the white dough to the same size and place it atop the black dough, pressing lightly to adhere the layers together.
- Roll out purple dough: Roll the purple dough to the same 6×12-inch size, sprinkle purple sprinkles evenly on top, and then roll it tightly into a log shape.
- Form and bake the cookies: Slice the dough logs into spiral-shaped cookies and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
Notes
- Ensure butter is at room temperature for easier mixing and better dough texture.
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors without affecting dough consistency.
- Chill dough briefly if it becomes too soft for rolling.
- Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to one week.
- For sharper spiral designs, chill rolled dough logs before slicing.
