Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and orange zest to create the sweet glaze.
  2. Warm the glaze: Place the bowl in the microwave and heat for 15-30 seconds until the glaze reaches a pourable consistency.
  3. Prepare ham for glazing: Position the ham on a large piece of aluminum foil capable of wrapping around the entire ham.
  4. Glaze the ham: Using a basting brush, coat the ham evenly with half of the prepared glaze. Reserve the remaining glaze for later.
  5. Wrap the ham: Wrap the ham tightly in the aluminum foil, ensuring it’s well sealed to prevent juices from escaping during cooking.
  6. Set up the Instant Pot: Place the trivet with handles inside the Instant Pot’s inner pot for easy removal of the ham once cooked.
  7. Add water: Pour 1.5 cups of water into the bottom of the Instant Pot to generate steam for pressure cooking.
  8. Place ham in Instant Pot: Position the wrapped ham on the trivet inside the Instant Pot.
  9. Seal the lid: Lock the Instant Pot lid in place and ensure the valve is set to SEALING.
  10. Pressure cook: Set the Instant Pot to cook on HIGH PRESSURE for 10 minutes (adjust timing as needed based on ham weight).
  11. Natural release: Once the cooking cycle ends, allow a 15-minute natural pressure release, then carefully switch the valve to VENTING to release any remaining steam.
  12. Check temperature: Remove the lid and verify that the ham’s internal temperature has reached 145°F. If not, reseal the lid and cook on high pressure for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  13. Remove and unwrap: Carefully take the ham out of the Instant Pot, place it on a large platter, unwrap the foil, and discard the cooking liquid.
