Description
A quick and flavorful Hot Honey Shrimp recipe featuring tender shrimp glazed in a sweet and spicy honey sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Sauce & Cooking
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Sriracha or your favorite)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Chopped parsley or green onion, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, then season lightly with salt and black pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to warm up until shimmering but not smoking.
- Sear the Shrimp: Add the shrimp in a single layer to the hot skillet. Cook them for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the cooked shrimp from the skillet and set aside temporarily.
- Melt the Butter: Lower the heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet, letting it melt completely and blend with the residual oil and flavors.
- Sauté Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant but not browned, to release its aroma and flavor.
- Prepare the Glaze: Add the honey, hot sauce, and lemon juice to the skillet. Stir continuously and let the mixture simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Toss Shrimp in Glaze: Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss well to coat each piece evenly with the hot honey glaze.
- Finish Cooking: Continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes while stirring frequently to ensure the shrimp are heated through and fully infused with the sauce.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the glazed shrimp to a serving dish and garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired. Serve immediately while hot for the best flavor.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of hot sauce to make the dish more or less spicy according to your preference.
- Serve this shrimp over rice, noodles, or alongside steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- For best results, use fresh shrimp and serve the dish promptly after cooking.
- This recipe can easily be doubled for larger gatherings.
- If you prefer a milder glaze, substitute hot sauce with a milder chili paste or omit it.
