- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- Simmer Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally until the brown sugar is completely dissolved and the sauce begins to simmer gently.
- Prepare Slurry: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water to create a smooth slurry without lumps.
- Thicken Sauce: Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring continuously to avoid clumping.
- Cook to Desired Consistency: Continue to cook the sauce for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until it thickens to a glossy and smooth texture.
- Finalize and Cool: Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool slightly. It is now ready to be used as a marinade, glaze, or dipping sauce.

- For a thinner sauce, add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach preferred consistency.
- This teriyaki sauce is versatile and can be used as a marinade for meats, a glaze for grilled foods, or simply as a dipping sauce.
