Description

This Homemade Strawberry Crunch is a delightful and easy-to-make dessert topping or snack featuring golden Oreo cookie crumbs coated with strawberry-flavored gelatin and butter, baked to a perfect crispy texture. It offers a sweet, fruity crunch that is great on ice cream, yogurt, or as a standalone treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 23 Golden Oreo cookies
  • 1 (3 oz) packet of strawberry-flavored gelatin
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
  2. Crush the Cookies: Place the Golden Oreos into a food processor and pulse until coarse crumbs form. If you don’t have a food processor, place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you get coarse crumbs.
  3. Mix with Gelatin: Transfer the cookie crumbs into a mixing bowl and add the packet of strawberry-flavored gelatin powder. Stir until the crumbs are evenly coated with the gelatin.
  4. Add Butter: Pour in the melted unsalted butter and mix thoroughly to ensure all the crumbs are coated and the mixture holds together slightly.
  5. Bake: Spread the mixture evenly across the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 minutes, allowing the mixture to develop a crisp texture.
  6. Cool & Crumble: Remove the baking sheet and let the mixture cool completely. If the mixture solidifies into a block, break it apart into crumbs before storing or using.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is melted but not too hot when mixing to evenly coat the crumbs without cooking the gelatin prematurely.
  • Store the cooled strawberry crunch in an airtight container at room temperature to keep it crispy.
  • This crunch works wonderfully as a topping for ice cream, yogurt, or pudding.
  • For a different flavor, try substituting the strawberry gelatin with other fruit flavors.
  • Crushing the cookies to a coarse crumb rather than powder ensures a better crunchy texture.
