Description

Enjoy homemade beef jerky with this easy and flavorful air fryer recipe. Thinly sliced beef sirloin tip steak is marinated in a blend of soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and spices, then dehydrated in an air fryer to create tender, delicious jerky with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef

  • 450 g beef sirloin tip steak, thinly sliced

Marinade

  • 60 ml low-sodium soy sauce
  • 30 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 36 g brown sugar
  • 0.5 g garlic powder
  • 0.5 g onion powder
  • 0.5 g ground black pepper
  • 0.25 g red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare Beef: Slice the beef sirloin tip steak into approximately 6 mm thick strips, cutting against the grain to ensure the jerky is tender.
  2. Mix Marinade: In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well until the sugar is nearly dissolved.
  3. Marinate Beef: Add the beef strips to the marinade, tossing well to coat all pieces evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or preferably overnight to let flavors penetrate deeply.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 82°C (180°F) to prepare for dehydrating the beef.
  5. Arrange Beef: Lay the marinated beef strips in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure strips do not overlap for optimal airflow.
  6. Dehydrate Beef: Air fry the beef strips for 120 to 180 minutes (2 to 3 hours), flipping them halfway through the cooking time. The jerky is ready when it is dry yet still pliable.
  7. Cool and Store: Remove the jerky from the air fryer and place on a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, store the jerky in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Cutting the beef against the grain is essential for tender jerky.
  • Marinate the beef overnight for the best flavor infusion.
  • Ensure strips do not overlap in the air fryer to allow even drying.
  • The drying time may vary depending on the thickness of the strips and air fryer model; check periodically.
  • Store jerky in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
