Description

This Garlic Parmesan Asparagus recipe offers a quick and delicious way to enjoy fresh asparagus by roasting it to tender perfection and topping it with savory garlic and melted Parmesan cheese. It’s a perfect side dish that combines simple ingredients with bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 pound asparagus (trimmed)

Seasonings and Oils

  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt (or more to taste)

Dairy

  • ½ cup parmesan cheese (freshly shredded)

Optional

  • ¼ lemon (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425℉ (220℃) to get it ready for roasting the asparagus.
  2. Prepare Asparagus: Trim the woody ends off the asparagus, place them on a baking sheet, then drizzle olive oil, minced garlic, and sea salt over them. Rub the seasonings evenly to coat all the asparagus spears well.
  3. Roast Asparagus: Roast the asparagus on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Halfway through cooking, toss the spears to promote even roasting and continue cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Add Cheese and Lemon: Remove the asparagus from the oven, squeeze the fresh lemon juice over them if using, then sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top. Return to the oven for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes slightly golden.
  5. Serve: Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary, then serve immediately to enjoy the garlic Parmesan asparagus at its best.

Notes

  • Ensure asparagus spears are trimmed evenly for uniform cooking.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor and melting quality.
  • Adjust sea salt according to your taste preference.
  • The lemon is optional but adds a nice bright contrast to the savory flavors.
  • Keep an eye on the cheese during the final bake to prevent burning.
