Description

This Easy Saucy Ramen Noodles recipe is a quick and delicious way to elevate instant ramen noodles with a flavorful, savory sauce. Perfect for a fast weeknight meal, it combines garlic, soy, and oyster sauce with a touch of sweetness and heat, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds for a satisfying, saucy noodle dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Ramen Noodles

  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (or hoisin sauce for vegetarian option)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes or chili oil (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water (reserved from boiling noodles)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Prepare the instant ramen noodles according to the package instructions, but be sure to discard the seasoning packets. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the water used to boil the noodles before draining. Set the cooked noodles aside.
  2. Prepare Sauce: Heat a skillet or wok over medium heat and add the sesame oil. Sauté the minced garlic for 30 to 60 seconds until it becomes fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Combine Sauce Ingredients: Add soy sauce, oyster (or hoisin) sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and optional chili flakes or chili oil into the skillet. Stir the mixture well to combine all flavors.
  4. Simmer Sauce: Pour in the reserved 1/4 cup noodle cooking water and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken.
  5. Toss Noodles in Sauce: Add the cooked noodles back to the skillet and toss them thoroughly in the sauce to ensure every strand is coated. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes to heat everything through and develop a saucy consistency.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, then serve immediately while hot for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For a heartier meal, add sautéed vegetables, scrambled eggs, or leftover chicken to the dish.
  • Doubling the sauce ingredients will make the noodles extra saucy and flavorful.
