Ingredients
Scale
Primary Ingredients
- 1 (26-ounce) can Whole or Diced Tomatoes
- 1 bunch Cilantro Leaves (stems removed)
- 1 small Jalapeño (or 1/2 jalapeño for less heat)
Additional Flavorings
- 6 Green Onions (sliced)
- 1 (4-ounce) can Diced Green Chiles
- 1 to 2 Fresh Roma Tomatoes (diced)
- 1-2 teaspoons Salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Blend the base. Add the whole canned tomatoes, cilantro leaves, and jalapeño into a blender. Blend just until pureed, being careful not to overblend to avoid creating a foamy texture.
- Combine additional ingredients. Pour the blended tomato mixture into a large bowl. Stir in the sliced green onions, diced green chiles, diced fresh Roma tomatoes, and salt. Adjust the salt to your taste preference.
- Serve. Serve the salsa at room temperature with chips or use it as a fresh condiment with your favorite meals.
Notes
- For milder salsa, use only half of the jalapeño or remove the seeds before blending.
- If you prefer a chunkier texture, pulse the blender instead of continuous blending.
- Fresh Roma tomatoes add brightness, but you can omit them if preferred.
- Adjust salt to taste for best flavor balance.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
