Ingredients
Scale
For the Cinnamon Bread
- 1 lb. Frozen Bread Dough, thawed
- 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- ¼ cup Brown Sugar (for sprinkling on top)
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
For the Icing
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 – 3 Tbsp Milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan for Baking: Lightly spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the bread.
- Thaw the Dough: Place the frozen bread dough in the prepared loaf pan and allow it to thaw for 4 to 7 hours at room temperature until fully softened and slightly risen.
- Mix Sugar and Cinnamon: In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon to create the cinnamon-sugar mixture that flavors the bread.
- Cut the Dough: Using a knife, make 5 to 6 horizontal slits across the top of the thawed dough to allow the cinnamon sugar to seep in and to facilitate pulling apart after baking.
- Coat in Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the melted unsalted butter over the top and inside the slits of the dough, then generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture all over the surface.
- Top and Rise: Let the dough rise in the pan for 30 minutes at room temperature to develop volume, then sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar evenly on top for added sweetness and a slight crunch.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the bread to golden perfection.
- Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the Icing: While the bread bakes, whisk together powdered sugar and 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk until smooth and pourable to create the sweet glaze.
- Finish and Serve: Once out of the oven, drizzle the warm bread with the prepared icing. Pull apart individual slices and enjoy while warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Allow the dough to thaw completely to ensure even rising and baking.
- The horizontal slits help the cinnamon sugar flavor penetrate and make it easy to pull apart the bread.
- You can adjust the amount of milk in the icing to achieve your preferred consistency.
- Serve the bread warm for a soft, gooey texture that is perfect with coffee or tea.
