Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Vegetables
- 1 cup diced yellow onions
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Gravy Mixture
- 10.5 oz can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 2 packets chicken gravy mix
- â…“ cup water
- ½ teaspoon ground sage
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
Instructions
- Prepare the slow cooker: Spray the inside of the Crock Pot with cooking spray to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
- Layer the onions and chicken: Place the diced yellow onions in the bottom of the Crock Pot. Arrange the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a single layer on top of the onions for even cooking.
- Mix the gravy: In a separate bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix packets, water, ground sage, black pepper, and parsley flakes until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Cook the chicken: Pour the prepared gravy mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the Crock Pot. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW for 5 hours, allowing the chicken to become tender and infused with the savory flavors of the gravy.
- Finish and serve: After 5 hours, remove the lid and stir the chicken and gravy together, shredding or breaking the chicken breasts apart as you stir. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice for a hearty meal.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a clove of minced garlic to the gravy mixture.
- You can substitute ground turkey or pork for the chicken breasts if preferred.
- Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding salt if desired, as the soup and gravy mix can be salty.
- This dish freezes well; save leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
- Serve with steamed vegetables or a side salad for a balanced meal.
