Ingredients
Scale
Seafood
- 4 salmon fillets (skinless)
- 12-16 shrimp (peeled and deveined)
Seasonings & Oils
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh parsley)
Instructions
- Season and Cook the Salmon: Season the salmon fillets evenly with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the salmon fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the Shrimp: Using the same skillet, add the peeled and deveined shrimp. Cook each side for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside with the salmon.
- Make the Creamy Garlic Butter Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium and add unsalted butter to the skillet. Melt the butter and then add minced garlic, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Simmer the Sauce: Stir in the heavy cream, chicken or vegetable broth, and grated Parmesan cheese. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Season the Sauce: Add lemon juice, dried or fresh parsley, and season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir the sauce well to combine all the flavors.
- Assemble the Dish: Return the cooked salmon fillets and shrimp back into the skillet with the sauce. Spoon the sauce generously over the seafood and cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors and heat everything through.
- Serve: Plate the creamy garlic butter salmon and shrimp, pouring extra sauce over the top. Garnish with additional parsley and lemon wedges if desired for a fresh finish.
Notes
- Ensure not to overcook the salmon or shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
- The sauce can be made with vegetable broth for a pescatarian variation.
- Fresh parsley is preferred for garnish to add brightness to the dish.
- Optional red pepper flakes add a nice subtle heat but can be omitted for a milder flavor.
- This recipe pairs well with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh green salad.
