Description

Cotton Candy Rice Krispies Treats are a whimsical twist on the classic marshmallow cereal bars, featuring a delightful cotton candy flavor and a fun sky blue color. These treats are easy to make, perfect for parties, and can be decorated with pastel sprinkles or cotton candy bits for an extra festive touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp cotton candy flavoring
  • 1–2 drops sky blue food coloring

Optional Decorations

  • Pastel sprinkles
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Cotton candy bits

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch pan with non-stick spray or butter. Line the pan with parchment paper if you want easier removal of the treats later.
  2. Melt the Butter and Marshmallows: Place a large pot over low heat. Melt the butter completely, then add the mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows have fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Flavoring and Color: Turn off the heat. Stir in the cotton candy flavoring and add 1 to 2 drops of sky blue food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the color is evenly distributed. Adjust by adding more coloring if you desire a deeper shade.
  4. Stir in Cereal: Immediately pour the Rice Krispies cereal into the marshmallow mixture. Use a spatula to gently but quickly fold the cereal in until every piece is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Transfer to Pan: Spoon the cereal mixture into the prepared pan. Gently press it evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper, being careful not to press too hard so as to maintain a light and airy texture.
  6. Add Decorations (Optional): While the mixture is still warm but no longer hot, sprinkle on pastel sprinkles, mini marshmallows, or cotton candy bits for decoration and an extra pop of color.
  7. Cool and Slice: Let the treats cool at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes until completely set. Use a sharp knife to cut the treats into squares before serving.

Notes

  • For easier removal, lining the pan with parchment paper is recommended.
  • Do not press the mixture too firmly into the pan to keep the treats light and crispy.
  • Use cotton candy flavoring for authentic flavor; cotton candy syrup or extracts can be used as alternatives but adjust quantities according to taste.
  • Decorations are optional but add a fun visual appeal especially for parties or themed events.
  • Store treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh and chewy.
  • Adjust the amount of food coloring carefully to avoid coloring the treats too dark or artificial looking.
