Description

Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark is a delightful treat combining crunchy salted pretzels, rich semi-sweet and milk chocolates, and a luscious homemade or store-bought caramel layer. This easy no-bake recipe offers a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and buttery flavors with varied textures, making it an irresistible snack or gift for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate and Pretzels

  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cups Mini Salted Pretzels
  • 1 cup Milk Chocolate

Homemade Caramel

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt

Optional

  • 1 package Soft Caramels (if not making homemade caramel)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly spray the parchment with a non-stick spray to ensure the chocolate bark does not stick.
  2. Melt Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate using a double boiler or microwave at 50% power in 30-second increments, stirring well after each increment until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Add Pretzels: Immediately press the mini salted pretzels into the melted semi-sweet chocolate so they adhere as the chocolate begins to harden.
  4. Make Homemade Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, stir sugar constantly until it forms clumps and melts into an amber-colored caramel. Carefully add butter and whisk until fully incorporated. Slowly drizzle in heavy cream and stir. Allow the mixture to boil for 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in sea salt. Let caramel cool and thicken slightly.
  5. Use Packaged Caramels (Optional): If using soft caramels instead, melt the caramels according to package instructions.
  6. Pour Caramel Over Pretzels: Drizzle the homemade or melted caramel over the pretzel layer on the chocolate, spreading evenly.
  7. Melt Milk Chocolate: Melt the milk chocolate using the same method as the semi-sweet chocolate. Pour and spread it over the caramel layer, covering it almost to the edges.
  8. Chill Chocolate Bark: Cover the baking sheet and refrigerate for several hours until fully set. To speed up, place in the freezer for about 30-60 minutes.
  9. Serve: Once set, cut the chocolate bark into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to melt chocolate slowly to avoid burning, stirring often.
  • You can use either homemade caramel or pre-packaged soft caramels based on convenience and preference.
  • Press pretzels into semi-sweet chocolate immediately to ensure they stick properly.
  • The sea salt in the caramel can be adjusted according to your taste preference for saltiness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
