Description

Cheeseburger Twists are a delicious and fun appetizer featuring seasoned ground beef and melted cheddar cheese wrapped in crispy egg roll wrappers and pan-fried to golden perfection. Perfect for parties or a tasty snack, these twists combine classic cheeseburger flavors in a crunchy, handheld bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Wrapper

  • 1 package egg roll wrappers
  • Water, for sealing edges

For frying

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil recommended, amount as needed)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatics: In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and minced garlic, sautéing for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and slightly softened.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook it, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  3. Season the Filling: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well to combine the flavors evenly.
  4. Add Cheese and Cool: Remove the skillet from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly, then fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare Egg Roll Wrappers: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, dry surface. Moisten the edges with water to help seal. Place a spoonful of the cheeseburger filling in the center of the wrapper, fold in the corners over the filling, and roll tightly to form a twist shape.
  6. Fry the Twists: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the egg roll twists for 2–3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove the twists from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, make sure the oil is hot enough before frying (around 350°F or 175°C).
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef for a lighter option.
  • Use your favorite brand of egg roll wrappers, found in the refrigerated section of many grocery stores.
  • These twists are best served fresh but can be reheated in an air fryer or oven to retain crispiness.
  • Be careful not to overfill the wrappers to prevent tearing during frying.
