Description

Cheeseburger Rice is a hearty one-pot meal that combines all the classic flavors of a cheeseburger into a creamy, comforting rice dish. Ground beef, onions, and garlic are sautéed and simmered with rice and beef broth, then mixed with ketchup, mustard, and melted cheddar cheese for that iconic cheeseburger taste. Optional pickles and fresh herbs add an extra burst of flavor, making it a perfect family-friendly dinner that’s quick and easy to prepare on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Rice and Liquids

  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth

Seasonings and Condiments

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Dairy and Garnishes

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickles (optional)
  • Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook Beef and Onion: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add Rice and Broth: Stir in the uncooked white rice, beef broth, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Simmer Rice: Reduce heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 15–18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is fully absorbed.
  4. Incorporate Flavors and Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the ketchup, yellow mustard, and shredded cheddar cheese until the cheese is completely melted and the dish is creamy. If using, add the chopped pickles for extra cheeseburger flavor.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Serve the cheeseburger rice hot, garnished with chopped parsley or green onions if desired for a fresh finish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, top with crispy bacon or a drizzle of burger sauce.
  • You can substitute brown rice; just adjust the cooking time and liquid amounts accordingly.
  • This is a great family-friendly one-pot meal that’s simple and satisfying.
