Description

This Brie Cheese Bread recipe is a delightful combination of melty Brie cheese atop crisp sourdough, enriched with crunchy roasted pistachios, savory prosciutto, and a sweet drizzle of hot honey. Perfect as an indulgent appetizer or a sophisticated snack, it comes together quickly and bakes into a warm, flavorful treat bursting with textures and complementary flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 6 slices prosciutto

Bread & Cheese

  • 1 sourdough bread loaf or baguette, halved
  • 8 ounces Brie cheese

Toppings & Seasonings

  • 2-3 tablespoons roasted and salted pistachios, crushed or chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey
  • 1-2 teaspoons fresh or dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Crisp Prosciutto: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Arrange the 6 slices of prosciutto into small nests on a baking sheet. Bake them for 10-12 minutes until they become crisp. Once done, remove from oven and allow them to cool.
  2. Prepare Bread and Brie: Line another baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Place one half of the sourdough loaf on the center of the sheet. Slice the Brie cheese and arrange it evenly across the surface of the bread, reserving any extra slices for later use.
  3. Chop Prosciutto: While the bread is baking, chop the cooled crispy prosciutto into small pieces to prepare for topping.
  4. Bake Bread with Brie: Bake the prepared bread in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until the Brie has completely melted into a gooey layer on top.
  5. Finish and Serve: Remove the baked bread from the oven. Immediately drizzle the hot honey evenly over the Brie-covered surface, then sprinkle the chopped prosciutto, crushed pistachios, thyme, and sea salt over the top. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice the bread. Serve warm for the best experience.

Notes

  • Use fresh thyme for a more vibrant herbaceous flavor, or dried thyme as a convenient substitute.
  • Hot honey adds a spicy sweetness; you can substitute with regular honey if you prefer a milder taste.
  • Make sure to slice the bread carefully after topping to avoid the cheese and toppings from sliding off.
  • Leftover Brie slices can be saved and added to other dishes or enjoyed later.
  • If you prefer a crispier crust, consider toasting the sourdough loaf lightly before adding the cheese.
