Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- ½ cup fresh blueberries
- ½ cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
Vegetables
- 1 small carrot, grated
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup oats (use gluten-free oats if needed)
Wet Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened, xylitol-free peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for added healthy fats)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruits: Wash the blueberries and strawberries thoroughly. Hull the strawberries and cut them into smaller pieces to ensure even blending.
- Grate the Carrot: Peel and grate the small carrot finely to mix well with the other ingredients.
- Blend Fruits and Carrot: In a blender or food processor, combine the blueberries, strawberries, and grated carrot. Pulse several times until the mixture is chopped into small, uniform pieces but not completely pureed.
- Add Other Ingredients: Add the oats, peanut butter, and optional coconut oil to the blender. Blend until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and form a sticky, cohesive mixture.
- Form Balls: Using a spoon or your hands, scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls that your dog can easily enjoy.
- Refrigerate to Set: Place the balls on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up and hold their shape.
- Store and Serve: Once set, transfer the balls to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to one week. Serve these delicious treats as a healthy snack for your dog anytime.
Notes
- Always ensure the peanut butter used is unsweetened and free from xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
- Use gluten-free oats if your dog has gluten sensitivity or allergies.
- These treats should be given in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
- Optional coconut oil adds healthy fats but can be omitted for dogs on low-fat diets.
- Refrigerate to maintain freshness and firm texture.
