Ingredients
Scale
Tiramisu Layer
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- Ladyfingers, enough to cover the bottom of the trifle dish
Berry Layer
- 3 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons berry liqueur (optional)
Garnish
- Additional mixed berries
- Cocoa powder or grated chocolate
Instructions
- Prepare the Tiramisu Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined to create a smooth, creamy tiramisu layer.
- Soak the Ladyfingers: In a shallow dish, mix the cooled brewed espresso with coffee liqueur if using. Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they absorb the liquid but do not become soggy.
- Macerate the Berries: In a separate bowl, toss the mixed berries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and berry liqueur if using. Allow them to macerate for about 15 minutes to release their juices and enhance sweetness.
- Assemble the Trifle: Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of the trifle dish. Spread half of the tiramisu cream over the ladyfingers, then spoon half of the macerated berries on top. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, tiramisu cream, and berries for a beautifully layered dessert.
- Chill: Cover the trifle dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
- Garnish and Serve: Before serving, top the trifle with extra mixed berries and sprinkle with cocoa powder or grated chocolate. Serve chilled and enjoy this luscious Berry Tiramisu Trifle with friends and family.
Notes
- Use freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee for best flavor in soaking ladyfingers.
- If you prefer, omit the coffee and berry liqueurs to keep the dessert alcohol-free.
- Letting the berries macerate softens them and brings out their natural sweetness.
- The dessert tastes best when allowed to chill overnight, but a minimum of 4 hours is sufficient.
- This trifle is best served chilled and should be kept refrigerated until served.
