Description

Bang Bang Salmon is a flavorful and spicy baked salmon dish featuring a creamy, tangy bang bang sauce made with mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice. This quick and easy recipe delivers a perfect balance of heat and sweetness, baked to tender, flaky perfection in under 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter option)
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Optional Garnishes

  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Brush each fillet evenly with olive oil, then season them with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper according to your taste preferences.
  3. Bake the Salmon: Arrange the seasoned salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin side down if applicable. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque, cooked through, and flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While the salmon is baking, whisk together the mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey or maple syrup, and lime juice in a small bowl until the sauce is smooth and well combined.
  5. Serve: Once the salmon is done baking, either drizzle the bang bang sauce generously over the fillets or serve it on the side for dipping.
  6. Garnish (Optional): For added flavor and presentation, garnish the salmon with chopped green onions, toasted sesame seeds, or lime wedges before serving.

Notes

  • Using Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise reduces calories and adds a tangy flavor.
  • Adjust sriracha quantity based on your preferred spice level.
  • Make sure not to overcook the salmon to keep it moist and tender.
  • You can swap honey for maple syrup to keep the recipe vegan-friendly.
  • Optional garnishes add texture and enhanced flavor.
