Description

These Banana Pudding Brownies combine rich, fudgy brownies with a creamy banana pudding layer, topped with crushed vanilla wafers for added texture and flavor. This delightful dessert is perfect for banana lovers looking for a nostalgic, indulgent treat with a twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Layer

  • 1 box fudge brownie mix (plus ingredients listed on box – usually eggs, oil, and water)

Banana Pudding Layer

  • 1 (3.4 oz) box instant banana pudding mix
  • 1 ½ cups cold milk
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped topping or whipped cream
  • ½ cup crushed vanilla wafers (plus more for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease or line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the brownies.
  2. Prepare and Bake Brownies: Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, usually involving mixing the mix with eggs, oil, and water. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish evenly. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  3. Make Banana Pudding Layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant banana pudding mix and cold milk until it starts to thicken, about 2 minutes. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then blend it with the pudding mixture and vanilla extract until creamy and uniform. Gently fold in the whipped topping and crushed vanilla wafers to add creaminess and crunch.
  4. Assemble the Dessert: Once the brownies have fully cooled, spread the banana pudding mixture evenly over the top layer of the brownies using a spatula to create a smooth surface.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled brownies for at least 2 hours to allow the pudding layer to set properly. Just before serving, garnish the top with extra crushed vanilla wafers for added texture and presentation.

Notes

  • For extra banana flavor and texture, layer thin banana slices between the brownie and banana pudding layers before chilling.
  • Store the finished banana pudding brownies in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain freshness and texture.
