Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Breading
- 4 chicken cutlets
- â…“ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- â…“ cup Italian breadcrumbs
- â…“ cup panko breadcrumbs
- â…“ cup grated parmesan cheese
Toppings
- ½ cup spaghetti sauce
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Prepare Breading Stations: Set up three shallow dishes. Place the flour in one dish, the beaten eggs in another, and combine Italian breadcrumbs, panko breadcrumbs, and grated parmesan cheese in the third dish.
- Coat Chicken Cutlets: Season the chicken cutlets with salt and pepper if desired. Dredge each cutlet first in the flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring an even and complete coating.
- Air Fry First Half: Place two coated chicken cutlets in the air fryer basket and lightly spray them with cooking spray to promote crispiness and prevent sticking. Cook at 350ºF for 6 minutes to achieve a golden, crispy crust.
- Add Sauce and Cheese: Remove the partially cooked cutlets and spread 2 tablespoons of spaghetti sauce evenly over each. Top each cutlet with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese for a melty, cheesy finish.
- Air Fry for Cheese Melt: Return the cutlets to the air fryer and cook at 400ºF for an additional 4 to 5 minutes, allowing the cheese to fully melt and slightly brown.
- Repeat with Remaining Cutlets: Repeat the previous steps with the remaining two chicken cutlets for a total of four servings.
Notes
- Use cooking spray to ensure the breading crisps evenly and doesn’t stick to the air fryer basket.
- For extra flavor, season the breadcrumb mixture with additional Italian herbs or garlic powder.
- Serve with spaghetti or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Make sure to not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow hot air to circulate freely.
